I know I stink at newsletters. You can’t count on them, they arrive willy-nilly if they arrive at all, and I only send them out when it’s convenient for me. Mea culpa.
However, I thought y’all might like to know that I’m looking toward May to schedule another Gumbo Workshop. We’d talked about having another one last fall, but everybody wanted to have gumbo class out on the pier again. Our gracious hosts agreed, so we’ve just been waiting for reliable weather. Details to follow.
The good news is Spring has fully sprung, and not a moment too soon. Mother Nature toyed with us a bit the last few weeks, but I’m counting on smooth sailing until hurricane season. I even planted a few vegetables and herbs last weekend–tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, dill, basil, etc. Remember that your local farmer’s markets deserve your business, and your table deserves their produce.
In other LCK news, my Soups and Sides cookbook will head off to publication soon! Trust me, I’ll let you (and everybody else) know when it’s available!
I have two more cookbooks outlined and I’m eager to start on them. Both topics are reader requests. One is tentatively titled, Home Cooking for One or Two. It’s not easy to cook for a very small family. I have plenty of recipes you’ll love, and not have to eat for days on end. The other working title is, Kid-Friendly Real Food (That Parents Will Love, Too!). That book is exactly what it sounds like: nutritious foods the entire family will enjoy. In addition to the recipes, I have a few tricks up my sleeve regarding kid food, and I’m happy to share.
I’m flirting with the idea of a book launch/tasting party for Soups and Sides. Maybe a reasonable ticket price that includes a copy of the book (or not)? Are any of my locals interested? Let me know.
OXOXOX,
Malia
